My Simple Skin Care Routine

Hi lovelies!

Today I thought I'll share with you my simple skin care routine. I do this morning and night and I use the same products fro both day and night.

First step of course is finding what type of skin you have. Mine is oily. So I tend to look for products that will help minimise the oiliness of my skin especially my t-zone.

Second is to religiously use the same products to actually see if it has good or bad effects on your skin or if it actually moisturising your skin, making it really oily, hydrating it or of it is giving you break outs.

Third and lastly is to make sure that you pair your skin regimen with good amount of sleep and proper diet to make sure that you're not only giving your outer body a good look but also giving your inner body the proper nutrition to maintain good health and good skin :)

So let's now go forward to my skin care routine.

Cleanse:

It is a must for me to cleanse after waking up and before going to bed. Imagine all the dirt that you'll be bringing in to bed if you don't cleanse. All the pollution outside that you leave on your skin will have a bad effect afterwards.

- so for removing my make up at night I often use oil base make up remover. But since discovering micellar water I opted for that as the ingredients are more skin friendly.

Garnier  Micellar Water has been so effective in removing my make up and use it in just cleansing alone. But this isn't effective when you're removing your mascara and matte liquid lipstick. You need to have an oil base product to get rid of it.

I am currently trying the Lancome galateis douceur - this is a milky lotion type cleanser. I can't say that I am keen. It does somehow cleanse but not as clean as how the Garnier micellar water does. With Lancome you need to put a large amount of product to make sure that you cover and cleanse all the area.

Toner:

So after cleansing I am right down to toning.

What does a toner do to our skin?

Base on my research, a toner can

  1. shrink pores.
  2.  It can restore your skins pH balance.
  3. Add a layer of protection
  4. Adds up moisture on your skin
  5. It refreshes your skin
  6. It can prevent ingrown hair

L-R: Mamonde Rose Water Toner. PondsWhite Beauty Conditioning toner
Mamonde Rose Water toner

This is the first time that I have tried using this product. I've used this for a week now and so far I can't stop reaching for it. I find the rose scent relaxing, bu if you are not a fan of rose scent, then you need to skip this.

What I notice with this product is once it has sinked in to your face it gives you a really silky feel. I noticed how smooth my face was after application.

Ponds White Beauty Conditioning Toner

This product has been tried and tested for yearrrsss. I mean years and years. I have started using this way back university days, and 10 years after that I am still using it. Which only means how effective the product is to me that I keep on reaching for it and repurchasing it.

I have quite big pores and Ponds has helped in shrinking it out. After using Ponds I always get that fresh feeling. I feel like my face has been cleaned properly. Plus I love the cool feeling after putting the product on same as with the Mamonde Rose Water toner.

Mist:

It's only lately that I have incorporated mist in my skin care routine. I am not a believer of mist as I feel like toner will do the job.

So what is really the use of mist on our face?

Based on my research, incorporating mist in your skin regiment proves a great help in your skins hydration. It also acts as a sealant. To seal in moisture hence added hydration to your face/skin. It also helps your skin to have a good natural glow plus it keeps your make up intact. Although you need to remember that there are different kinds of mist, and that each has different uses and effect on your skin too.

Laneige Water bank Mineral Skin Mist

- As I said earlier, I have only just incorporated mist in my skin regimen. Laneige has a subtle scent that helps me kind of relax when I spray it on my face. It boost hydration to my face too and has a cooling effect which I love.

Serum:

Applying serum is the next part of my skin care routine. I find serum important as most of the ingredients found in it has anti ageing formula that helps smoothing fine lines and wrinkles (this is for a long term use).

I am currently shuffling two serums at the moment. I either use the other one at night and the other one during the day.

Olay Total Effects 7 in One Daily Serum

- I have been using this product since last year and it has prove its worth.
- the formula is more siliconey (I like it, don't get me wrong)
- it's non greasy and it's fast absorbing too
- so far I have no record of breakouts (nonetheless I've been messing up my sleep pattern & my diet)

Dior Capture Totale

- I have only been using this for over a month. Is it effective? I can't say much yet. Although I didn't have any break out on this too.
- this serum is more liquidy in nature. I try to just put three drops on my hand and then dab it all over my face. One thing that I notice though is I really feel fresh after applying this on my face.
- the scent is just luxurious - very Diorish type.
- it is said that it helps tighten your face. I can't comment on that yet as I still need to see if it has done that to me. I think I need more time to see if that part has already work on me.

Moisturiser:

Let's now head on to moisturizing. After applying my serum and having it sink in I will then head to applying my moisturiser. I am using three moisturisers at the moment.

What does moisturiser do to your face?

It is said that moisturiser can help in the preservation of our normal skin. It will  help the skin from getting to dry or too oily.

We also need to remember to pick the correct moisturiser for the type of skin that we have. Because if we pick the wrong one then it might just make our skin worst instead of actually making it better.

Olay Regenerist Micro Sculpting Cream

- same as the serum, I have been constantly using the Olay moisturiser. It is very lightweight but really effective.
- in the morning upon waking up I can feel that my skin is moistened and not dry.

Mamonde Moisture Ceramide

I am very much new to Korean Skin care. This and Laneig mist are the first Korean skin care that I've tried lately.

The Mamonde light cream has hibiscus ceramide plus that helps in providing boost of hydration and helps rejuvenates skin.

This product is very effective to people with dry skin. As for me who has oily skin and is currently using this - I still find this very effective. It still gives me the hydration that I need. The flowery scent made it more exciting for me. The product is lightweight too and it easily absorbs on your skin.

Clinique Moisturizing Lotion

I started using clinique skin care way back 2014. And I have loved it ever since. With this moisturiser, the first thing that I noticed was its thickness. Compare to the other two, you only need a little and it will go a long way. As for hydration, yes it provides me that too. It doesn't have any scent which I think is best for people with sensitive skin.

Lip Care:

And we are on the last bit f our skin care routine. To end it all up I also tend to give my lips some love. I have always been a lip balm lover so this was not difficult for me to do. Although I have only started doing this way back 2010. And it became a proper routine when i lived in England - putting lip balm on your lips is a must especially during the cold winter months (or else you'll end up with chapped or bleeding lips) which is the worst thing to happen.

As of the moment I have two lip balms that I've been shuffling.

1. Vaseline Lip Theraphy

- this has a rather thick texture compare to the ones in the tin.
- although it really helps in making your lips intact and it makes it hydrated too
- only downfall though is because of its thick consistency, you can still feel it in the morning upon waking up.
- but it's definitely doing the job

2. Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask

- again another first for me on this brand.
- the first thing that i noticed is the very lightweight texture of the product
- when you apply it on the lips it's just really soothing, non heavy and smells really good (which I love the most)
- it only took me one night to prove how effective this product is
- so far this is what I have been using everyday now and it has made my lips really soft and supple.

So that sums up my skin care routine. Very simple, as I don't want it too complicated because I want to make sure that I get to test the product properly to give me a good effect in the end.

The Skin Care Routine Steps aforementioned:
*Cleanse
*Tone
*Mist

Colour Changing Lip Balm Battle: Which is worth the HYPE?

Hi darlings!

I've been obsessing myself with lip balms lately and I've been specifically obsessing with the Dior Addict lip Glow.

Disclaimer: Photo not mine. Grabbed from E-bay for sample purposes only.

I've been seeing it everywhere! (Update: I have already purchase it last June 2018).

Instagram makes me want to purchase it but I' am dwelling the over the top price tag. I know there are a lot of good lip balms out there so I thought I need to search the internet for the closest dupe that I can find.

I heard somewhere that the Sephora Collection Color Adapting Lip Balm is the closest dupe for the Dior Addict Lip Glow.

First off. Let's talk about the Price Tag:

Sephora Collection Color Adapting Lip Balm is £18.60 *Amazon UK price (Php 871.00 *Sephora Ph price).

Dior Addict lip Glow is £26.00 *Boots UK price (Php 2,200.00 *Make Up Pro website price - at least almost £8.00 difference and almost Php 1300.00 in comparison to Philippine peso price (that is really a HUGE difference).!

Due to the fact that some make up products are not readily available in the Philippines - hence the excessive price range, online stores plummet their prices. Also there is only one Dior flagship store in the Philippines and it is located in SM Makati (update: They have a booth in SM Aura and that's where I got my Dior Lip Glow last June 2018 price is P1870.00).

Our country is compose of Island so it's somehow difficult to just jump on a plane to buy one make up in the metro, that's why people end up buying online and just bite the bullet.

Sephora has opened it's online shopping portal for Filipinos - that being so the make up junkies here has finally managed to get their hands on some items that aren't found locally.

So let's go to the Packaging:

Dior comes in a really chic packaging. The lip balm is cased in a pink packaging with  a silver button that has the "CD" initials on it. So classy and fancy looking.

Sephora comes in a sleek black case as you can see on my photo above. It has a pink lip icon which shows what the shade of the balm inside is.

And let's go to the most important thing - the FORMULATON:

Both balms when applied on the lips shows as clear and then changes to pinkish colour - depending on the pH level of your lips. The Sephora when applied to my lips is more tinted. But the Dior just shows a nice pink hue on my lips but not pale-ish (*take note I have a purple undertone and looks pale-ish whenever I don't wear any tinted lip balms).

The Dior addict lip glow has a vanilla-y scent while the Sephora Collection Color Adapting Lip Balm has a subtle honey scent but not really that noticeable compare to the Dior Addict Lip Glow.

Comparing on how it looks on my lips, there's a very minimal difference. Sometimes it looks like I have only used one lip balm.

And when it comes to APPLICATION:

Both lip balms glides on smoothly without tugging.

Which one is LONG WEARING?

Dior Addict Lip Glow is definitely long wearing compare to Sephora Collection Color Adapting Lip Balm.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It is really so obvious that my heart belongs to Dior Addict Lip Glow but the price tag is over the top. Although you are paying for the quality of course and I mean look at that chic packaging.

While for the Sephora Collection Color Adapting Lip Balm which is only a little cheaper from Dior is also a good buy and a good day to day use lip balm. To be honest though a Nivea lip balm is worth every penny but if you are on a "splurging fabulous packaging spree" for a lip balm then go for Dior. If you want a dupe as close as Dior and doesn't want to cash out your hard earned money then get the Sephora. Both has it's own pros and cons.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Okay so there you have it. You know where my heart belongs but practicality wise I'll get the dupe.

How about you? What are your insights of colour changing lip balms? Are they worth the hype?

Thank you and Ciao Bellas!
